Teen Choice Awards 2010: Katy Perry takes inspiration from big winners Twilight as she goes all vampire-goth as ceremony host

Vampire chic: Flanked by two 'gothettes', Katy Perry appears on stage at the Teen Choice Awards last night in black leather as she hosts the annual ceremony

She's something of a style chameleon and likes to experiment when it comes to her wardrobe.

So it was hardly surprising that Katy Perry couldn't resist diving into the fancy dress box as she made six costume changes as host of the the Teen Choice Awards last night.

And she took inspiration from the night's big winners as she dressed up in full vampire goth, complete with leather, studs, thick black eyeliner and a long black wig.

The pop star, 25,was master of ceremonies at the annual event held in Los Angeles, and kick started the night

But the singer then popped backstage and hit the fancy dress box as she made a total of six costume changes throughout the night.

Goth to girlie: Katy looks sullen as she gives her best vampire look backstage...but she was all smiles later as a pink and fluffy prom queen

Rock chick: Katy Perry opened the Teen Choice Awards 2010 in Los Angeles yesterday with a performance of her new single Teenage Dream

And for one she had clearly taken inspiration from The Twilight Saga - which took home 12 awards - as she strutted onto stage dressed as a goth, which she later Tweeted had been her favourite costume of the night.

But she couldn't stay sullen and moody for too long and was soon all smiles again as she was accompanied on stage by some of the cast of Glee, who were helping her host the awards ceremony

Gleek glamour: Katy swaps the fancy dress for a sexy strapless number as she is joined on stage by (L-R) Mark Salling, Cory Monteith, Kevin McHale and Chris Colfer from Glee

Geek to gorgeous: Katy is joined on stage by Mark Salling, who plays Puck, and Chris Colfer, who plays Kurt, as she performs two different skits

Taking inspiration from her high school days for her six costume changes, she had the audience the Gibson Amphitheater in stitches as she came on stage with some of the stars of the hit TV series, barely recognisable in her denim jumpsuit, braces - complete with headgear - and huge glasses held together with a plaster.

She then ditched the nerd look for a pink fluffy dress as she transformed into a pretty prom queen while doing a skit with Glee star Chris Colfer.

Hippy to geeky: Katy flicks the peace sign as she poses as a hippy before looking awkward in her braces and big glasses as a geek

Best song: As TV presenter Cat Deeley chats in the background, Katy, in hippy chick mode, accepts the award for Choice Single of they Year for her track California Gurls

It was soon back in the fancy dress box again, and this time she appeared as a hippy chick, barefooted and banging a bongo as it was her turn to collect and her surfboard award.

Collecting the award from So You Think You Can Dance host Cat Deeley, Katy flicked a peace sign with her fingers as she thanked the audience for voting for her as the winner of the Choice Single and Choice Summer Song for single California Gurls.

Awards also went to footballer David Beckham, who won the Choice Male Athlete award, which he graciously accepted with a helping hand from sons Brooklyn, Romeo, and Cruz, who accompanied their father to the event and joined him on stage as he accepted his award before kicking a football into the audience.

Transformers star Megan Fox was given the surfboard gong for the Choice Hotties Award, which she accepted from Twilight Saga star Taylor Lautner.

Double act: Ever the showman, little Cruz Beckham can't resist joining in the fun as he accompanies dad David on stage

Flying the flag for the older guests at the event were Sandra Bullock and Golden Girls star Betty White, who were cheered loudly as they launched into an impromptu rap.

Bullock had accepted the award for Choice Movie Actress: Drama for her Oscar-winning role in The Blind Side before inviting her 'sweet friend' Betty, who she joked hadn't been a teen since 1919.

Sandra added, 'I was worried about her fitting in but that's not the problem. The problem is she was supposed to jump in on my line, so Betty get your ass out on this stage!', before they both started dancing to Lil Jon's Get Low.

Pattinson also won the Choice Movie Actor; Drama gong for his role in Remember Me.
