Dressed down: Adam Lambert visits the Q102 radio station in Philadelphia sporting a toned down version of his usual look
Outrageous American Idol contestant Adam Lambert toned down his look yesterday while visiting a radio station in Philadelphia for a fan event.
The usually flamboyant performer looked relatively sombre in a black T-shirt, jeans and hat, with tinted geek-style glasses.
However, he did hang on to his trademark black 'guy-liner', albeit a more subdued version of his usual high maintenance look.
Lambert stopped to sign autographs and posed for pictures inside his car.
Lambert, 28, shot to fame on season 8 of American Idol, eventually finishing second behind Kris Allen.
He's known for his over-the-top vocal style and theatrical glam-rock stage costumes.
Earlier this year his new haircut made headlines, when he teamed shaved sides with a Rihanna-esque flick of longer hair at the front.

In 2009, Lambert stirred up controversy at the American Music Awards when he kissed a male keyboardist during a performance.
Following the incident Lambert told Rolling Stone, 'Female performers have been doing this for years—pushing the envelope about sexuality—and the minute a man does it, everybody freaks out.
'We're in 2009—it's time to take risks, be a little more brave, time to open people's eyes and if it offends them, then maybe I'm not for them.
'My goal was not to p*** people off, it was to promote freedom of expression and artistic freedom.'
