Lily Allen comes over all camera shy at Big Chill as she performs her last gig before motherhood

By Chris Johnson

Camera shy: Lily Allen, pictured at the Wireless Festival last month, banned photographers from taking pictures of her Big Chill set last night

A spokesman for Idea Generation, the PR firm handling the Big Chill, told MailOnline they were only told on Sunday by Lily's management that she wanted a blanket ban on all press photographers while on stage. This was a strict 'condition' of her performing at the event.

Lily Allen failed to Smile for the camera after banning any photographs as she performed at her last gig before quitting music to become a mother.

All photographers were banned from the pit at the main stage (The Deer Park Stage) at the Big Chill where the pregnant star was the headline act for Sunday night.

While fellow artists M.I.A. and Paloma Faith were photographed in action on the stage, the snappers had to vacate the press pit for Ms Allen's set at 10:30pm.

Warning: Photographers were told they could not take images of Lily onstage

After spending all day hanging out at the festival with boyfriend Sam Cooper, Allen arrived early on stage in a pair of jeans, checked shirt and Converse trainers.

She said: 'Excuse my casual attire but I'm pregnant and this is called the Big Chill.
'I packed high heels but my boyfriend unpacked them. He told me I'm not wearing high heels on stage. So that explains the jeans and lumberjack look.'

Her performance at the event, held in sprawling grounds of Eastnor Castle Deer Park in the Malvern Hills, marks what is likely to be her last live gig after announcing she is taking a five year break from music.

She kicked off her set with LDN and Everyone's At It and 22 from her second album, before finishing with an encore of It's Not Fair.

Allen announced last week that she and her boyfriend of a year were expecting their first child together next year.

As well as preparing for motherhood, Lily has also set up her own vintage clothing line and plans to open up a boutique in London with her half-sister Sarah Owen.

However despite insisting she would not be renewing her record deal back in March, and following a vocal campaign on illegal music downloads, it seems Lily has struggled to make a clean break from the scene.

Flamboyant: Paloma Faith entertained the crowds earlier on Sunday

She has gone on to perform a series of other gigs this summer, including Wireless in London's Hyde Park.

She was also due to play at the Benicassim festival in Spain last month, but pulled out at the last minute due to illness.

On top of that she has featured on the track Just Be Good To Green, with British rapper Professor Green.

The songstress has had a successful year on the awards front too, bagging the Brit Award for Best British Female, plus three Ivor Novello Awards.

Confirming she and 31-year-old Sam are expecting their first child, Lily said last week: 'It brings me great pleasure to tell you that Sam and I are expecting our first child.

'It goes without saying that we are both absolutely delighted.'

Lily has made no secret of her wish to become a mother, saying in May she hoped to be pregnant by the end of the year.

She said at the time: ‘I’d want to be really hands-on for the first two or three years of having a little one. I don’t want to leave them.’

And in an interview with Elle magazine in July, Lily said she was planning to take a five-year break from the music industry to concentrate on 'higher priorities' such as having children.

Atmospheric: Massive Attack were a big hit at the festival on Saturday
She said: 'I don’t think I’m that young to have a baby. My mother had me when she was 23.'

Lily, who suffered a miscarriage in 2008 when she was dating Chemical Brothers star Ed Simons, added that having a family would give her something ‘more solid, something that exists, that makes me feel more grounded’.

She explained: 'It’s difficult as a woman who wants a family. Kids take up your whole life, particularly in the first two or three years.

'So it wouldn’t be very responsible of me to commit to doing a world tour if I had a baby.’

Other stars who performed at the Big Chill this weekend included Paloma Faith, M.I.A, Massive Attack and The Magic Numbers.
