The £10m smiles (But Adrian Chiles still insists 'money wasn't why we quit the BBC')

By Daily Mail Reporter

The £10m smiles: But Adrian Chiles said money had nothing to do with his and co-host Christine Bleakley's defection from the BBC to ITV

Adrian Chiles yesterday claimed he was forced out by the BBC and his move to ITV had nothing to do with the highly lucrative £6million contract he was offered.

But his long-standing co-host Christine Bleakley stayed silent about her new £4million deal with the commercial channel, instead saying she defected from the BBC purely to be with Chiles.

Chiles, 43, said he and Miss Bleakley, quit after being put under ' intolerable pressure' by corporation chiefs.

At the launch of Daybreak, the replacement for GMTV which the pair will host from next week, he said he had not been tempted by a 'suitcase of money' and was not motivated by greed.

The presenter announced he was leaving the BBC in April after it emerged that Chris Evans would take his place on the Friday edition of The One Show, the programme which originally teamed Chiles with Miss Bleakley, 31.

She followed him out of the door two months later. He is understood to have been receiving around £1milliona year at the BBC, while she was thought to be earning £100,000 a year.

New show: The pair will now host Daybreak, the replacement for GMTV

Chiles said: 'The past has been slightly re-written, which I am slightly annoyed about.

'They are trying to portray it as a classic big money move to ITV, when nothing could be further from the truth.

'We were both very happy to stay there, didn't want any more money and I just wanted to carry on doing a successful programme exactly as we had, i.e. The One Show five days a week, The Apprentice and Match of the Day 2.

Still smiling: The pair leave yesterday's photoshoot

'But obviously the changes suggested on The One Show I couldn't live with and that's why I left.

'We were both put under intolerable pressure.'

Miss Bleakley said of her move: 'The first day he left I thought, I've lost my right arm here and this is just strange.'

Speaking at the weekend, BBC1 controller Jay Hunt said Chiles had been offered other shows to try to keep him at the channel.

Naomi Campbell caught out by the wind as her skimpy dress blows up at Venice Film Festival

By Daily Mail Reporter

Before the storm: Supermodel Naomi Campbell arrives at the Venice Film Festival

When dressing to impress, Naomi Campbell has her choice of the world's top designers.

But even the most expensive clothing can't help when a sudden gust of wind appears.

The supermodel was left exposed when her skirt blew up as she arrived at her hotel in Venice.

Woops! Naomi's skirt was caught as she headed into her exclusive hotel

Her lowcut black sundress already left little to the imagination, with cutout panels showing her legs.

But the wind lifted it even higher to expose her underwear, in an unflattering moment as she headed into her exclusive hotel.

Naomi is in the Italian city for the annual film festival.

Back on top: After her wardrobe malfunction Naomi hosted the Uomo Vogue dinner for Quentin Tarantino

Last night she hosted the Uomo Vogue Hosts Dinner For Quentin Tarantino.

Showing some EMO-tion: Ashlee Simpson and Pete Wentz are actually laughing for once

Happy family: Ashlee Simpson and Pete Wentz were all smiles as they left a friend's birthday party with their son Bronx Mowgli in Los Angeles last night

With a happy marriage, a gorgeous son and a successful career you'd think Ashlee Simpson would have plenty to smile about.

But usually when you see the singer and her husband, fellow musician Pete Wentz the couple look like they have the weight of the world on their young shoulders.

So it was nice to see them both smiling and laughing for once during a day out with their son, Bronx.

The couple and their adorable son were leaving a friend's birthday party in Los Angeles and it seems they carried on the festive mood all the way to their car.

After months of rumours that the couple were dating they went public in April 2008 with the announcement of their engagement.

They married at Simpson's parent's Encino home on May 17 2008 with Simpson's father officiating at the ceremony.

Eleven days later they announced on Wentz's band's website that they were expecting their first child.

Ashlee gave birth to Bronx Mowgli on November 20 2008.

Growing up: Little Bronx is getting big - he's due to turn two in November

Family business: Both Wentz and Simpson have successful musical careers - Wentz is with the band Fall Out Boy and Simpson has a solo career

25-year-old Simpson has gushed about being a parent. Shortly after Bronx's birth she posted on her website: 'Motherhood is the most fantastic experience.'

And says Bronx: 'makes me laugh and smile every day!'

Wentz is equally enamoured of his first born. He says: 'Every time I see my son, it looks like he's landing on the moon and discovering new rocks and stuff.

'I mean, every time he looks at his hand, it's like he's Christopher Columbus making it across the ocean. It's pretty awesome.'

The young couple are claiming that they love parenthood so much that they are even ready to add to their family.

Chip off the block: Mowgli is starting to look more and more like his dad with every passing day

'Children are the most beautiful gifts you can have in life,” Ashlee told OK magazine. 'We’d love to have more kids.'

'I love being a mother. We’re together all the time.Bronx is definitely finding himself, and he’s getting his own personality, so hide-and-seek, and new little things. He does sign language, so that’s been fun.'

Simpson has been taking some time out from work to concentrate on raising Bronx.
She last appeared on Broadway, where she performed a six-week run in the hit musical Chicago, which finished last February.

Simpson recently announced that she has made a return to the recording studio to work on her fourth album.

Dour: Wentz and Simpson usually find it hard to raise a smile between them, even when they are posing together on the red carpet

Jessica Alba parades her super toned legs in babydoll dress and bondage heels

By Daily Mail Reporter

Never ending legs: Jessica Alba looked immaculate in a revealing babydoll dress and bondage heels as she arrived at the Ed Sullivan Theatre in New York today

It would appear Jessica Alba knows a trick or two when it comes to promoting her new movie.

The stunning actress turned heads today in an impossibly short babydoll dress and bondage-style heels as she arrived to film an interview on the David Letterman show.

Jessica, 29, who showed off her enviably toned legs in the outfit, is in New York to plug her action film Machete, which premiered in Los Angeles last week.

The smiling actress was greeted by crowds of delighted fans as she rolled up outside the Ed Sullivan Theatre in Times Square this afternoon.

Mother-of-one Jessica signed autographs before making her way inside to record her slot on the Late Show.

The star, who is married to 31-year-old film producer Cash Warren, plays a U.S.

Customs and Enforcement agent in the upcoming Machete film, which is directed by Robert Rodriguez.

Head turner: The actress, who paraded her enviably toned legs, was filming an interview to plug her new movie Machete on the Late Show with David Letterman

The film centres on Machete, an ex-Federale, played by Danny Trejo, who launches a brutal rampage of revenge against his boss after being betrayed by the organization that hired him.

It also stars Lindsay Lohan, Michelle Rodriguez, Steven Segal, Robert DeNero, Rose McGowan and Don Johnson.

Machete, which is released in the U.S. on September 3, has already fallen foul of controversy after a trailer that was released with a special 'Cinco De Mayo' message inviting viewers into a violent on-screen race war caused outcries of racism.

Crowd pleaser: The mother-of-one signed autographs for fans who were eagerly awaiting her arrival outside the studios in Times Square

Jessica is mother to two-year-old Honor Marie and has revealed that she would like to add to her brood, telling Extra: 'We’ll have a few kids…three or four.'

Although the super fit actress is wary of having to deal with the pregnancy weight gain.

Alba shared that she had to work hard at shedding the weight after the birth of Honor: 'I shockingly gained weight right after I had the baby,' she said.

'So I worked out. It wasn’t fun. Twice a day. I ate really healthy.'

Hollywood A-listers love a bargain too... Halle Berry and family go shopping at Argos

By Andrea Magrath

Entourage: Halle Berry, her ex-boyfriend Gabriel Aubrey and a team of assistants left their Kensington hotel in London before stopping off at Argos

While the likes of Madonna, Victoria Beckham and Katie Holmes prefer the luxury of Selfridges and Harvey Nichols for a spot of shopping while in London, Halle Berry takes a more down to earth - and frugal - approach.

The X Men star stopped off at high street catalogue chain Argos yesterday in search of a travel cot for daughter Nahla.

But she may have wished to keep her budget shopping excursion on the down low - the 43-year-old hid in her blacked out chauffeured car and sent ex-boyfriend Gabriel Aubrey to check out the West London store.

The family and their entourage were spotted leaving their Kensington hotel together, before making a stop at Argos, where 33-year-old Gabriel and an assistant jumped out to fetch a catalogue.

He brought it out to show the actress, and after a few minutes deliberating, Aubrey headed back into to complete the purchase.

The True Religion model returned empty-handed though, after discovering the store was out of stock.

Off you go: Model Aubrey was pictured going into the store and emerging with a catalogue to show the actress, who stayed in the car

The trio were spotted out and about in London this week, taking in all the sights including the London Eye and Buckingham Palace, where they watched the changing of the guards.

Canadian Aubrey and Nahla accompanied Halle to South Africa where she was filming her new move Dark Tide, after he refused to spend three months away from his beloved daughter.

The couple split up four months ago, but have managed to maintain a close and loving relationship for the sake of their daughter.

In a remarkably amicable arrangement, the three lived together in a large house in Cape Town, with Aubrey cared full-time for the adorable two-year-old.

Out of luck: He returned empty-handed though, after discovering the store had run out of the travel pram they wanted for daughter Nahla

Halle discussed their break-up, after four years together, with US Vogue recently: 'It’s just that you realise you are not meant to go the distance with everybody,’ she said.

'We were meant to bring this amazing little person into the world. And I think that’s why we came together. And because of that, we are going to be together forever, all three of us. We are a family until we are not here any more.'

'We have always been friends, we’re still friends, we love each other very much, and we both share the love of our lives,' she added, 'and we are both 100 percent committed to being the best parents we can be.'

Family time: The trio have been spotted enjoying the sights of London this week after an extended stay in South Africa, where Halle was filming

Emmys 2010: Glee and Mad Men celebrate big wins, as autistic film Temple Grandin scoop the most awards

By Daily Mail Reporter

Triumphant: Glee's Sue Sylvester (left) picked up Best Supporting Actress gong and co-star Lea Michele missed out on a Lead Actress, but certainly won over fashion critics with her Oscar De La Renta dress

TV film Temple Grandin wins five gongs, including Best Actress in a TV movie for Claire Danes

Glee gets three trophies, but is beaten by Modern Family for Best Comedy

Mad Men gets two awards, with third win consecutive for Best Drama Series

They're two of the biggest shows on television right now, so it was no surprise to see Glee and Mad Men picking up a host of coveted awards at the Emmys last night.

Musical comedy Glee received three accolades at the Los Angeles ceremony, including Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Comedy for Jane Lynch, for her performance as caustic coach Sue Sylvester.

The show also picked Best Director of a Comedy Series for creator Ryan Murphy, but missed out on the coveted Best Comedy gong to Modern Family.

Scroll down for full list of winners...

Thank you: Glee star Jane Lynch, in a one-shouldered Ali Rahimi gown, accepts the outstanding supporting actress in a comedy series award for her part as Sue Sylvester. The musical show won a total of three awards

The hugely popular musical show also received an award for Outstanding Guest Actor Neil Patrick Harris, who played Brian Ryan, Will Schuester's (Matthew Morrison) old high school glee club nemesis.

Mad Men made it a third consecutive win for the prestigious best drama series at last night's 62nd Annual Primetime Emmy Awards, with Erin Levy and Matthew Weiner also receiving a trophy for outstanding writing for the show, set in 1960s America.

But the bigger winner last night was TV film Temple Grandin, which led the haul with five gongs.

On form: Mad Men's leading ladies January Jones, Elisabeth Moss and Christina Hendricks looked the part as they posed in the backstage lounge

Honoured: Mad Men executive producer Matthew Weiner, centre right, accepts the award for outstanding drama series, making it a third consecutive win in that category for the drama set in 1960s America

The made-for-TV biopic stars Claire Danes as autistic animal scientist Temple Grandin who revolutionised practises for the humane handling of livestock on cattle ranches and slaughterhouses.

Danes won the gong for best actress in a TV movie, with the flick also being honoured in the category for best director (Mick Jackson), best movie, and nods for David Strathairn and Julia Ormond for their roles as supporting actor and actress.

The film debuted on HBO in February and received overwhelmingly positive reviews.

Celebrate: Michele and co-star Chris Colfer congratulate Glee creator Ryan Murphy after he is named Best Director

Dinner for three: Lynch is distracted by her Emmy as she dines with her wife Dr Lara Embry at the post-Emmy Governor's Ball

An emotional Temple Grandin, who was also celebrating her birthday, was there in person and appeared onstage with the cast as the film raked in its awards.

Mockumentary Modern Family was named Best Comedy, beating Glee, The Office, Curb Your Enthusiasm, 30 Rock and Nurse Jackie to the title.

To our fans, we are so grateful, we are so thrilled that families are sitting down together to watch a television show, and we're so happy that you have let us into your families,' said Steven Levitan, Modern Family executive producer.

Dapper: Mad Men stars Jon Hamm (far left), John Slattery (2nd right) and Robert Morse (far right) join producer Matthew Weiner backstage after winning Outstanding Drama Series

The best comedy series award was the first for the freshman sitcom, which also captured an acting award for Eric Stonestreet and a best writing trophy.

Mad Men's series creator Matthew Weiner seemed to take the night in his stride.

'I knew one day I would run somewhere and win a trophy,' Weiner joked earlier in the ceremony when he dashed to the stage to claim the Emmy for best drama series writing with Erin Levy.

Proud winners: Claire Danes in shimmering Armani Prive, poses with her award while, right, Julia Ormond shows off her gong for Best Supporting Actress in the film

Humbled: David Strathairn picked up the trophy for best supporting actor in Temple Grandin

Bryan Cranston's portrayal of a meth dealer in 'Breaking Bad' and Kyra Sedgwick's role as a brassy deputy police chief in 'The Closer' earned the pair top drama series acting awards.

Cranston's honor was his third trophy for playing a high school math teacher gone wrong, while his co-star, Aaron Paul, earned his first award as best supporting actor for playing his partner-in-crime.

'During the time it took me to walk up here, I venture there were 200 text messages to the other nominees saying, 'You were robbed.' I cannot argue with that,' Cranston said.

High praise: Weiner, flanked by January Jones, makes a speech as Mad Men writer Erin Levy holds her award for outstanding writing for a drama series for, the second award the show received

Archie Panjabi of 'The Good Wife' was honoured as best supporting actress in a drama for her part as a law-firm's in-house private investigator, as Emmy voters spread the riches widely among veterans and fresh faces.

Edie Falco of 'Nurse Jackie' and Jim Parsons of 'The Big Bang Theory' were honoured for their comedy series lead roles.

Falco's trophy for playing a tough but troubled nurse came after her hallmark turn as a mob boss' wife in 'The Sopranos,' for which she won three best drama actress Emmys.

Big winner: Autistic animal scientist Temple Grandin, left, hugs producer Emily Gerson after the biopic Temple Grandin won for outstanding made-for-television movie at the 62nd annual Primetime Emmy Awards last night

Biggest haul: The autistic film won a total of five awards, with Claire Danes, who plays Grandin, picking up the gong for best actress in a TV movie

'Oh, this is the most ridiculous thing that has ever, ever happened in the history of this lovely awards show. I'm not funny!' Falco said.

Parsons won for his portrayal of a scientist as nerdy as he is brilliant. He ended fellow nominee Alec Baldwin's two-year winning streak for '30 Rock' and beat out other heavyweights including Tony Shalhoub, nominated for the final season of 'Monk' and a three-time winner, and Steve Carell of 'The Office.'

'Now I know how much I didn't think this was going to happen. Some of you apparently voted for me. That was very sweet,' Parsons told the theatre audience.

Surprised: The cast of Modern Family beat Glee to get the trophy for outstanding comedy series, from left are presenter Ted Danson, Julie Bowen, Sarah Hyland, Sofia Vergara, Rico Rodriguez and Eric Stonestreet

Trio of fun: True Blood stars Alexander Skarsgard and newlywed real life couple Anna Paquin and Stephen Moyer presented the award for best director for a TV movie which went to Mick Jackson for Temple Grandin

Stonestreet of 'Modern Family' and Lynch of 'Glee' were honoured for their comedy-series supporting roles.

'All I wanted to be was a clown in the circus when I was a kid growing up,' said Stonestreet, who plays a boisterous gay dad and partner. He thanked his parents for their support and promised to send his trophy home with them.

Lynch also thanked her folks along with her wife, Lara Embry. The pair married in Massachusetts in May.

Praised: George Clooney and girlfriend Elisabetta Canalis backstage after the actor received the Bob Hope Humanitarian Award

Fancy seeing you here: Clooney accepted the award from his former ER co-star, Julianna Margulies, who lauded his fundraising efforts for victims of this year's earthquake in Haiti, the 2004 tsunami in Indonesia and the September 11 terrorist attacks

'This is outlandish. ... I want to thank my lord and creator, Ryan Murphy, for creating his role,' Lynch said, paying tribute to the 'Glee' executive producer.

'Top Chef' won best reality series, ending the seven-year winning streak of 'The Amazing Race.'

Jon Stewart's 'The Daily Show' won its eighth consecutive Emmy Award for best variety, music or comedy series. The victory kept Conan O'Brien from claiming an Emmy for his short-lived stint as 'Tonight' host.

Many talents: Kim Kardashian, in a flowing white Marchesa gown, sang alongside guitar-playing host Jimmy Fallon to help introduce the award for best reality TV programme, which went to Top Chef

Show opener: Jimmy Fallon kicked things off on a musical note, performing a song-and-dance number with the cast of Glee and a wildly mismatched group of celebrities, from left Amber Riley, Jane Lynch, Tina Fey, Joel McHale, Fallon, Cory Monteith, Chris Colfer, Jorge Garcia

George Clooney accepted the Bob Hope Humanitarian Award from his former 'ER' co-star, Julianna Margulies, who lauded his fundraising efforts for victims of this year's earthquake in Haiti, the 2004 tsunami in Indonesia and the September 11 terrorist attacks.

Clooney, recalling evenings spent with Bob and Dolores Hope at the home of his aunt, singer Rosemary Clooney, said he was inspired by the late comedian and his wife, now 101.

'If you look at everything they accomplished in their lives ... They're the best version of the term 'celebrity,'' Clooney said.

Jewel sang her song 'Hole in My Heart' during a memorial tribute to prominent TV figures, including Robert Culp, Soupy Sales, Dixie Carter, Gary Coleman, John Forsythe and 'Roots' producer David L. Wolper.

Al Pacino was honoured as best lead actor in a miniseries or movie for 'You Don't Know Jack,' about euthanasia advocate Dr. Jack Kevorkian, who was in the audience and stood, smiling, at Pacino's request. The controversial physician received scattered applause.

Host Jimmy Fallon opened the show on a musical note, performing a song-and-dance number with the cast of 'Glee' and a wildly mismatched group of celebrities including Betty White, Jon Hamm, Kate Gosselin and Randy Jackson.

British comic Ricky Gervais also presented an award, showing off his newly trim figure in a smart suit

Much of the group ended up on the Nokia Theatre stage to kick off the awards with a high-energy version of 'Born to Run,' with Fallon on guitar.

'Tonight we're going to celebrate your work,' Fallon told the audience. 'So let's have some fun tonight.'

Last year's host, Neil Patrick Harris, was a presenter Sunday and took the time to rib Fallon.

'I want to thank the (TV) academy for allowing a gay man to host the Emmys two years in a row. Congratulations, Jimmy, you're doing a good job,' Harris said, smiling.

Guess Who's crazy for Daisy again? Matt Smith cuddles up with model Lowe in Ibiza

By Simon Cable and Paul Revoir

Getting on famously: Matt Smith gives Daisy Lowe a lingering kiss as they cuddle in the water in Ibiza

So far, it's been his on-screen sidekick who has got Doctor Who fans hot under the collar, with her famously short skirts.

But now Matt Smith has put on a steamy display of his own.
The 27-year-old actor was spotted canoodling with model Daisy Lowe on the Spanish island of Ibiza.

The pair had split after a three-month romance.

But the TV Time Lord took the 21-year-old lingerie model off for a romantic break and they appeared to be wasting no time getting reacquainted with one another.

Within hours of arriving, the couple were having fun in the sea, at one point sharing a passionate embrace.

Smith and Daisy were first said to have been introduced by Jaime Winstone, the actress daughter of Ray Winstone in Camden, North London.

Smith broke up with Brazilian actress Mayana Moura last year

This way, Daisy! Smith gives his model girlfriend a piggyback as they mess around in the sea

Daisy, who is the daughter of fashion designer Pearl Lowe, has become one of Britain’s most successful models.

She will shortly make her debut as the cover star of the British edition of Vogue magazine.

Smith's boss, Doctor Who producer Steven Moffat, yesterday recounted the first time he saw Karen Gillan, 22, who plays the Doctor's companion Amy Pond.

The statuesque redhead has proved a hit with viewers.

But Moffat said that when he first saw her, in video footage, he thought: 'She is really good, except she is so wee and dumpy.'

He said he later passed her in a corridor and realised she was a 'giant flame-haired goddess'.

It was announced yesterday that next year's series will be split in two, with seven episodes shown in spring and six in autumn.

The starlets started complimenting one another and swapped jewellery tips as they were interviewed on the red carpet by Ryan Seacrest outside the Nokia Theatre in Los Angeles tonight.

While on the red carpet, Kim was quizzed about her relationship status, but appeared unsure whether she was 'taken' - despite being seen out and about with NFL hunk Miles Austin.

When asked whether she was 'taken' by E! presenter Seacrest, the curvy brunette said: 'I don't know, I don't know. I'm dating.'

And even though she looked immaculate in the figure-hugging number, Kim complained of difficulties choosing the right dress because she felt bloated from overeating the previous day.

The couple have been dating for 12 years and he joked that they were going to get married at the ceremony, with Westfeldt saying it would be an 'easy moment'.

Jimmy Fallon hosted the awards on NBC, which aired live across America after three decades of tape-delay broadcasts for the West Coast.

Desperate Housewives star Eva looked stunning a flowing black gown and was joined by her husband Tony Parker.

She said she had enjoyed her summer vacation in Europe and was now back to work on the set of the hit show, with Season Seven set to air next month.

Dazzlers: Mad Men's Elisabeth Moss, British star Emily Blunt and Dexter actress Jennifer Carpenter all went for asymmetrical designs

Walking tall: Glee's Jayma Mays, in a form-fitting navy blue outfit and Dianna Agron in a stunning lace tiered dress complete with a black bow

The 35-year-old also commented on the tight nature of her oufit around the bust, saying: 'It's always tight on top.'

Hit musical comedy show Glee about a high school glee club was led the nominees at Sunday's Emmy Awards, including bids for best comedy series and cast members Matthew Morrison, Lea Michele, Jane Lynch and Chris Colfer. The show was nominated for a total of 19 gongs.

Modern Family was another freshman comedy front-runner, while 30 Rock was trying for its fourth consecutive best comedy series Emmy and Mad Men competed for its third drama series trophy.

Others defending their title included Bryan Cranston of Breaking Bad and Glenn Close of Damages, who claimed drama series acting honours last year, and, on the comedy side, Toni Collette of The United States of Tara and Alec Baldwin of 30 Rock.

She's the boss: Glee's Jane Lynch arrives looked regal in a purple number while co-star Amber Riley donned a white, halterneck design

Looking dapper: Fellow Glee star Cory Monteith, left, and Kevin McHale smarted up in suits while co-star Jenna Ushkowitz looked sexy in red

The public had a hand in writing some of host Fallon's material. He planned to bring many celebrity presenters onstage with introductions submitted through Twitter.

Other Emmy contenders included Conan O'Brien's short-lived Tonight, which was nominated as best variety, music or comedy series while the show with Jay Leno back in charge was snubbed. David Letterman's Late Show also missed out on a nod, but 2009 winner The Daily Show With Jon Stewart was nominated.

The final season of Lost competed for best drama series and for acting honours for star Matthew Fox and supporting cast members Terry O'Quinn and Michael Emerson, chosen as best supporting drama actor last year.

Family affair: Actress Susan Sarandon and her daughter Eva Amurri, left, were a vision in their contrasting black and nude-coloured garments, while, right, Glenn Close and her daughter Annie Starke

HBO came into the ceremony as the kingpin after claiming 17 awards at the Aug. 21 creative arts Emmys, followed by ABC with 15 and Fox with nine. CBS, NBC and PBS each claimed seven.

The Pacific, the World War II miniseries produced by Tom Hanks and Steven Spielberg, was the top nominee and captured a leading seven creative arts awards, which recognize technical and other achievements.

Ratings for the awards have increased importance: The TV academy's contract is up for renewal with the four major networks that had been airing the show in rotation for eight years, and the academy hopes last year's 8 percent audience increase is a trend after an all-time low in 2008.

The show's live nationwide broadcast and scheduling could be factors. The Emmys typically have aired immediately before TV's mid-September kickoff, but NBC pushed up the awards telecast to avoid a conflict with its Sunday night National Football League games that begin Sept. 12.

But fewer people tend to watch summertime TV, and the 5 p.m. PDT pre-primetime slot for the Emmys on the West Coast also tends to draw a smaller audience.

Be my date: Kevin Bacon and his actress wife Kyra Sedgwick and Tom Hanks with wife Julia Louis-Dreyfus

Glamour: TV presenter Lauren Bosworth, left, went for a green pencil-skirted dress, Modern Family star Sarah Hyland looked stunning in a light pink, plunging gown, while actress Angela Kinsey struggled to contain herself
