Charlotte Church insists she's just 'work colleagues' with songwriter Jonathan Powell.

But it looks like the couple are spending increasing amount of time together as they headed out to lunch together today.

The 24-year-old singer, who split from fiancé Gavin Henson in June, and Powell joined a group of friends, including ex-Hear'Say bandmember Noel Sullivan for a leisurely brunch in Cardiff.

Their group luncheon came after a boozy night partying together at Church's mother Maria's pub, the Robin Hood, to celebrate Sullivan's 30th birthday.

The previous night they had joined Sullivan's former Hear'Say bandmate Myleene Klass at the pub for a spot of karaoke.

While Sullivan and Klass relieved their Pure & Simple days by duetting, Church preferred to sing alone.

Whether their relationship is strictly platonic or anything more, they made sure they sat on opposite sides of the table for their alfresco group lunch.

Work colleagues: Powell and Church have been working together on the Voice Of An Angel star's upcoming album

Despite being photographed several times together in the past few days, they have insisted they are just work colleagues, who have been collaborating on Charlotte's upcoming album, due for release in November.

A representative for Charlotte said: 'As far as I know they are just work colleagues.'

Rumours first surfaced over the weekend when Church was spotted sharing a McDonald's meal at a drive-thru last week.

Jonathan's manager Rhiannon Morgan-Bell told MailOnline: 'Those pictures of them in McDonald's were taken after a session in the studio. They're just good friends.'

However, as well as professional relationship, it is clear the pair have a close bond, as the new friendship appears to have put a smile back on Charlotte's face.

Charlotte recently took to the stage for an impromptu gig with Jonathan earlier this month, and took the opportunity to perform some of her new material for fans.

And Jonathan, who released his debut album Forgive This Day earlier this year, has loved the experience of songwriting with Charlotte.

Speaking about working together, Jonathan - who met Charlotte after working at her family's pub in Canton, said: 'The focus is absolutely on the songwriting.

'It’s great to see someone with such a high profile taking such a pro-active lead in her music.'

He added to WalesOnline website: 'We seem to write well together. Basically I play the music that’s in her head.

'She’ll come up with an idea that I’ll create in musical form or I’ll come up with a riff and we work that way.'

Charlotte has been largely keeping out of the media spotlight since splitting from rugby player Gavin Henson in May - six weeks after announcing their engagement.

Since her split from Gavin, Charlotte has made a fresh start for herself and children Dexter and Ruby, buying a new £1.3million six-bedroom house in a quiet village of Dinas Powys, South Glamorgan, a dozen miles away from her former marital home and just five miles from Cardiff.

Her new home, called The Spinney, is detached, a freehold with six bedrooms, four bathrooms and three reception rooms.

She is said to have put up for sale the £1.2million mansion in St Bride's Major, Wales, that she and Gavin had lived in.
