What a scorcher! Katy Perry shoots flames from her chest in sparky new pop video - though Lady Gaga did it first

By JODY THOMPSON

Bang on: Fireworks explode from Katy Perry's chest in her new music video for single Firework, which shows the singer standing on a balcony in Budapest with bangers shooting out of her bosom

Russell Brand has always thought new wife Katy Perry was a little firecracker - but the singer seems to have taken her groom's thoughts literally in her new video.

After an obsession with carefully-positioned cupcakes, Katie now appears to be shooting actual flames from her chest in the promo for new single Firework.

However, though it's not the first time a pop star has shot flames from her chest - Lady Gaga did it on stage at hte Much Music Awards in Canada a year last June.
Scroll down to watch the video for new single Firework.

Sparky lady: Lady Gaga did the 'fireworks from chest' stunt at the Much Music Awards in Canada in June 2009

But Katy has explained that her stunt was to symbolise the fighting spirit and 'life spark' latent in all human beings rather than simply for shock value.

Talking on her official website, the new bride explains: 'I think that in life, people are challenged to get to where they want to be and to reach their goals.

'Hopefully they can hear this song and find out that those challenges aren't really difficult to get past.'

Not to be re-fused: Perry dedicated the video to the It Gets Better movement against the bullying of gay teens because 'everyone has the spark to be a firework'

Chest amazing: Another fiery still from the video to Firework, which newly-wed Katy shot in Budapest, Hungary

Katy, 26, got together 250 'real life' inspirational young people 'that are buzzing and fizzing and have the potential to become fireworks' from eight different European countries to star in the video rather than use actors.

They all congregated in Budapest, Hungary, for the shoot.

Katy is seen getting emotional as all 250 youngsters assemble before her for the first time.

Going off: Some 250 young people from across Europe were picked by Perry because of their inspirational stories to star in the video shoot

She explains: 'With my story, it's been so many trials and tribulations to get to this place. It's amazing to hear people get through things in life and reach their goals.'

'Music can be so powerful and I think it can transform you and inspire you and heal you. We're basically making a formation of a firework, all the kids are being the sparks around me.'

'The whole vibe of the video shoot is a movement, an emotional experience.'

Emotional: The singer said that the song was her favourite from her current album Teenage Dream as it meant so much to her

The promo sees a plump girl who is refusing to join in with a pool party suddenly get her spark, strip off and jump in the pool, alongside a bald young child who appears to be a cancer patient and a shy gay man.

All end up shooting sparks from their chests too in the climax to a song and video which has more than a echo of the sentiments in Christina Aquilera's Beautiful.

The finale sees all 250 dancing together in one of the beautiful squares in the stunning city, with special-effects fireworks shooting from their bodies into the sky.

Mr and Mrs Brand: The pair jet out from Jaipur to their honeymoon in the Maldives, with Katy still wearing her nath nosering and henna tattoos earlier this week

The video chimes with the song's lyrics, which include: 'You've got to ignite the light and let it shine and own the night/'Cos baby you're a firework, come and show them what you're worth.'

The single, which Katy performed on the X Factor on 17 October, is the third to be taken from her album Teenage Dream. It was released on Monday and has already gone to Number Five on downloads alone.

Katy, who celebrated her birthday on Sunday, also wed comedian Brand in an elaborate ceremony on Saturday in Rajasthan, India.

They're currently enjoying their honeymoon in the Maldives.

It's the mother of all scrambles as pregnant fan gets her hands on Take That tickets... but thousands miss out as websites crash

By SARAH BULL

Thrilled: One pregnant fan poses with her tickets after queuing for hours outside Manchester Stadium

Thousands of Take That fans have been left devastated after being unable to purchase tickets for the group's Progress Live 2011 tour.

However, several people who decided to camp out at the various stadiums in a bid to get their hands on the hotly-anticipated tickets found their determination paid off.

And one of the lucky ones was a certain expectant fan, who decided to queue for tickets despite being heavily pregnant.

Posing with one hand on her stomach and the other clutching her precious tickets, the woman smiled widely as she was photographed outside Manchester Stadium.

After millions of keen fans logged onto the internet this morning in the hope of getting their hands on some of the hotly-anticipated tickets, many of the ticket websites crashed as they were unable to cope with the demand.

However, a statement from the group urged Take That fans to keep trying as tickets are currently still available to buy.

The statement read: 'Due to totally unprecedented demand all ticket agents have struggled to cope with the number of people logging on to try and buy Take That tickets.

Excited: (Left to right) Carol Anne King, Joanna Webb and Sam Owen from Wednesbury with their tickets outside Villa Park, Birmingham

'The technology available has not been able to keep up with demand however all ticket agents are confident they will be able to process all enquiries so are asking fans to keep trying.'

The demand for the tickets, which went on sale at 9am this morning, is also causing issues with the UK telephone network, according to Ticketmaster.

Following the unprecedented demand, Take That decided to put three more dates up for sale, in Sunderland, Glasgow and Birmingham on May 31st, June 24th, and June 28th respectively.

Still smiling: Fans who stayed overnight seen outside Villa Park this morning

Desperation: Many fans queued overnight in a bid to get their hands on tickets in Birmingham

The online retailer added in a statement: 'Call volume is at least twice that of the Michael Jackson on sale last March. We are working to resolve the issues and we are confident that fans will be able to purchase tickets and we ask that they keep trying.'

BT added: 'Despite huge levels of demand this morning for Take That tickets, the UK’s telephone network coped well with the volume of calls received, which was 3-4 times above normal levels.

'Some traffic management was introduced to allow the network to cope with the high volume of calls, so some people may have experienced difficulty in getting through on the phone to some ticket outlets.'

And while general admission tickets have not yet sold out, there are already thousands of people putting their tickets up for sale on auction sites including eBay.

Comeback: Take That announced their tour plans earlier this week

Back on the road: The boys originally put 15 UK dates on sale but already added three more dates

Two tickets for Take That's performance at Manchester were already fetching a staggering price of £357, while a pair of standing tickets for Wembley were at £405 with over half an hour left on the auction.

One fan wrote on Twitter: 'Isn't it really annoying that many of the people buying #TakeThat tickets are doing so to sell on at extortionist prices?'

One fan, Laura Docherty, wrote on the band's Facebook page: 'I got tickets. But I've never experienced every website down. Got tickets in the end. Good luck to you all who are trying.'

There have also been warnings from the police urging fans not to buy tickets for the tour from any unofficial websites, as many sites have already been set up specifically to sell fake tickets.

Detective Inspector Sean Crotty, of the Metropolitan Police Economic and Specialist Crime Command, says, 'There are huge numbers of Take That fans who will be desperate to get hold of tickets for these concerts.

Early risers: The queue outside Villa Park in the early hours of the morning

Dedication: Claire Bateman, Caroline Chalmers, Emma Hurd and Kelly Hurd decided to sleep outside to ensure they were first in line

'However, buying tickets from unofficial websites or agencies could result in them losing money, having their credit cards details compromised and ultimately losing out on the opportunity to see the band.'

Take That's last tour, Circus, broke British box office records when it sold 600,000 tickets in less than five hours in 2009. It was seen by more than one million people.
The group formed in 1990, but Robbie Williams quit in 1995 to pursue a solo career.

In 1996, Take That split, but Gary Barlow, Mark Owen, Howard Donald and Jason Orange reformed in 2005 and have since released two hit albums.

The group are already causing a storm with their new single The Flood, which is widely agreed by Take That fans to be one of their best songs ever.

They're back! Take That to tour with Robbie Williams - and a creche - for first time in 15 years

By KATE LOVEYS

Back for good: Take That have announced this morning that they are to tour as a five-piece again in a 14-date UK tour

He spoke of his deep remorse after it emerged he had repeatedly cheated on his wife.
And yesterday Mark Owen took a further step to rebuild his marriage by revealing that Take That would have a creche on their latest tour so he could be joined by his wife and children.

The band yesterday announced the dates of a 20-date tour that could earn them £50million – and for the first time in 16 years they will be joined by former bandmate Robbie Williams.

Back in the fold: The tour will feature all the band's hits plus songs from Robbie's solo career

But it was the revelation that the band’s wives and children will be travelling with them that raised eyebrows at yesterday’s press conference.

Asked about the possibility of families coming along, Owen, 38, said: ‘That’s up to them. We are talking about having a creche backstage. But some of the kids have got school. They’ll be in trouble if they take more than a few days off.’

In March, Owen was forced to publicly admit affairs with ten women, conducted while he was dating his then girlfriend, Emma Ferguson, the mother of his children Elwood, four, and 23-month-old Willow Rose.

Progress Live 2011: Take That pose for a photo call in London today after announcing their tour. Tickets go on sale Friday

He had married actress Emma in a Scottish castle just six months before the revelations. However, the singer fought hard for a reconciliation and recently claimed he has put his marriage difficulties behind him.

Both Williams, 36, and Barlow, 39, are also married and Barlow has three children.

But it is unlikely that any of the Take That wives will have any objections to their husbands taking to the road next year. A music industry source said each member will earn more than £4million, or £200,000 for each show.

Reunion: The band have not performed together for 15 years

Gossip: The tour is one of the industry's worst-kept secrets, with Robbie letting slip several times in recent weeks that one was in the works

‘One sold-out stadium will gross £2million for the band and costs will swallow £1million per show,’ the source said.

On top of that the five will get some £5million each from record sales, royalties and TV rights. Their album, Progress, will be released next month and has been tipped to be the Christmas number one. Tickets for the tour are likely to sell out fast.

Their last tour, Circus, broke British box office records when it sold 600,000 tickets in less than five hours in 2009. It was seen by more than one million people.

Breaking up: Take That (minus Robbie) announcing their split in 1996

As they were: The band in their heyday

The UK leg of their Progress Live tour will commence in May in Sunderland and culminate in four nights at Wembley Stadium before six dates in Europe taking in Italy, Germany, Holland and Denmark. Tickets go on sale at 9am on Friday.

Take That formed in 1990, but Williams quit in 1995 to pursue a solo career.

The group split the next year, but Barlow, Owen, Howard Donald, 42, and Jason Orange, 40, reformed in 2005, and have released two hit albums since.

Williams and Barlow became close again in recent months, writing and performing their current single Shame.

Buck toothed beauty: Taylor Swift has a very bad hair day as she parodies her teenage self

By DAILY MAIL REPORTER

Buck toothed beauty: Taylor Swift appears in a new television ad for her album Speak Now

She has written and sung songs about being an ugly duckling turning into a swan and how high school was tough for her.

But now songstress Taylor Swift shows the transformations she went through in a funny and touching new television commercial for her new album Speak Now.

In the ad for the deluxe version of her new album, sold exclusively at Target, Swift makes fun of herself as a teenager growing up - even wearing an ugly pair of fake teeth.

Target exclusive: Taylor wears a pair of fake teeth and has her hair back-combed as an homage to her teenage years

The 20-year-old musician starts the ad with huge frizzy hair and buck teeth while she sings about being at school and an unrequited love who preferred someone with sleek locks.

She claims her dream was always to be a big star and prove everybody wrong.
We then see her as a young country star in a huge Dolly Parton-esque wig and bright purple trouser suit with cowboy boots as she strums a guitar in front of a barn.

The ad then shows Taylor looking completely different in a short sleek brunette wig and chic dark-rimmed glasses as she sings about becoming a poet.

Taylor has been going to extremes to promote her new record.

Just this past weekend she held an impromptu concert in the middle of central park involving a performance of several of the new songs off the album.

Big dreams: She sung about hoping to be a big star someday despite unrequited love from a guy at school

Chic look: Taylor looked unrecognisable in a brunette wig and glasses in one scene

The performance and it's following after party were streamed live over the internet and on MTV, VH1 and the Country Music Television channel.

Taylor's NYC outing comes in the wake of a reported new romance in the singer's life - with Brokeback Mountain actor Jake Gyllenhaal.

According to reports, the pair spent the weekend together and attended the broadcast of Saturday Night Live to support Taylor's pal Emma Stone.

'They showed up together', a source told People magazine.

'They walked around together backstage, but they were careful not to be seen too close. It was hard to tell if they were together, but everyone was shocked that she brought him.'

Swift and Gyllenhaal were then seen together again on Sunday, just hours prior to Taylor's Central Park performance, while brunching at Al Di La in Brooklyn before taking a stroll around the trendy Park Slope neighbourhood.

Kylie Minogue dazzles Mexico City in tiny white feather dress

By DAILY MAIL REPORTER

Feathery: Kylie performing last night at Palacio de los Deportes in Mexico City

In the music industry, she is known as something of a workaholic and Kylie Minogue is certainly living up to her reputation

The singer, 42, was only in Egypt performing in the spectacular setting of the Giza pyramids earlier this week but last night she was busy rocking Mexico City.

Kylie arrived in Mexico on Friday night ahead of her glitzy concert in the capital at Palacio de los Deportes.

And despite her frenetic schedule, she looked full of energy as she strutted her stuff at the venue.

Dressed in a tiny white dress with crochet detail around the ribcage and finished with a feather-style mini skirt, she looked far from her age of 42.

The Australian star positively beamed as she was held aloft on a white chair by some strapping dancers.

On her feet, she had some towering gold ankle boots decorated with jagged baubles which must have been crippling to dance in.

Kylie is busy promoting her latest album Aphrodite and was earlier at its Mexico launch at the Four Seasons Hotel.

She looked more demure in a babydoll black dress with a puffy skirt but the dress still had an element of the risque thanks to a sheer panel showing her cleavage.
The singer will perform again today, this time on Mexican television.

Aphrodite recently gave her her fifth career Number One in the U.S. Billboard Club Chart.

Get Outta My Way, her second single from the album after All The Lovers, hit the top last week.

It follows U.S. chart-toppers Can't Get You Out Of My Head, Love At First Sight and Slow.

New pictures of her trip to the Giza pyramids in Egypt were released today by the country's Egypt's Supreme Council of Antiquities.

They show the singer, looking relaxed in sandals and a full-length white dress being told about the historic site by top archaeologist Zahi Hawass

Step back in time: Kylie Minogue performs against spectacular Egyptian backdrop

By ANDREA MAGRATH

Spectacular: Kylie Minogue performed last night in front of the ancient Sphinx and Pyramids of Giza in Egypt

She has performed in cities all over the world, but this setting would have to be one of the most jaw-dropping.

With the amazing view of the Sphinx and the Pyramids of Giza in the background, Kylie Minogue thrilled fans at an open air concert held in front of the spectacular site in Egypt.

The pop star was in Cairo to perform at the 10th anniversary of Enigma magazine.

She took to the stage in a gorgeous sheer gown by Emilio Pucci that was whipped up in the breeze to reveal the diminutive singer's legs, and a staggering pair of spiked Christian Louboutin heels.

Party-goers, dressed to the nines for the 'Hollywood Red Carpet Glamour' dress code, paid around £330 to attend the charity event, with profits going to the We Owe it to Egypt foundation and the Abou el-Reesh paediatric hospital.

The 42-year-old spent some time sight-seeing earlier in the day, gushing to her Twitter followers 'This mystical place is insane!!'

VIPs: The cheering crowd paid £330 for tickets to see Minogue perform, with profits going to charity

She was given a tour of the ancient city by Vice Minister of Culture in Egypt, Dr Zahi Hawass.

Kylie uploaded a picture of the pair standing in front of the Sphinx, and despite her years of globe trotting, she still appeared in awe of the historical site.

She wrote: 'With the amazing Dr Zahi Hawass in front of the Sphinx...yes THE Sphinx!!! To see these sights is so incredible, moving and powerful.'

Later she excitedly tweeted, 'Rehearsing for our show in Cairo..... in front of ...the .....PYRAMIDS!!!!!'

Tourist: Kylie took in the sights with the Vice Minister of Culture in Egypt as her guide earlier int he day

The day before her Cairo concert, Kylie sent her love to sister Dannii who turned 39: 'Peeps...wish Happy Birthday to Mummy @DanniiMinogue!!!' she tweeted.

The Australian superstar recently spoke out about the feud between her younger sister Dannii and former X Factor judge Sharon Osbourne.

After Dannii wrote about their strained relationship in her autobiography, Sharon's daughter Kelly launched a rant on Twitter about the Australian in response.

Kylie said: 'I feel protective. Dannii is my little sister and I always feel the urge to get involved. But I’m reluctant to get dragged into this fresh hoo-ha

'It’s such a small part of our lives now. I think it’s basically become a pantomime. But it was very real at the time Sharon and Dannii were both on the show.

'We had the Osbournes and the Minogues kicking off. But I know Dannii wishes it would go away. Can we just get past this now? Come on! It’s a bit old and boring.'

Miley Cyrus pays tribute to dad Billy's country singer roots... in a pair of cowboy boots

By DAILY MAIL REPORTER

Rootin', tootin': Miley Cyrus shows off an extravagant pair of cowboy boots as she stepped out in Los Angeles today

Miley Cyrus's style rarely varies much.

But it seems she switched up one item in her daily combo of short-shorts and boots - this time taking inspiration from her father's country-singing roots in a pair of printed cowboy boots.

Daddy's girl: She paid tribute to country singer father Billy Ray Cyrus's roots

The 17-year-old singer also wore her new favourite super-long feathered earring, Native American influenced accessories and a pair of black lace-trimmed shorts.

And the singer flashed a very positive peace sign as she posed for snappers in Los Angeles.

Miley wore a pair of unusual painted boots which feature what looks like a Native American woman sitting down.

They must be a favourite of Miley's as cowgirl boots were the height of fashion last year, but have been superceded by the more fashionable biker style boot.

Yesterday the teen star grabbed a bite to eat with a friend at the upmarket Joans On Third cafe in West Hollywood, California, completing her look with a tiny top, sunglasses and native American moccasin-style boots.

Sitting in prime position outside the eatery, the 17-year-old star was clearly in the mood to be seen as she whiled the afternoon away yesterday.

Wardrobe staple: The 17-year-old singer also wore her favourite shorts, super-long feathered earring, and Native American influenced accessories

The singer has just released her new video for Who Owns My Heart, and will no doubt stir more controversy from her racy dance moves and barely-there wardrobe.

The teenager then gets up to put her make-up and skimpy outfit on for a night at a club, despite being under-age and unable to drink alcohol.

Her latest song explores Miley’s confusion over ‘who owns her heart’, and she clearly isn’t holding back her sexy image despite the criticism she’s received in the past.

Cyrus recently hit back at critics who don’t agree with her sexy profile though and told OK! Magazine this summer that if people don’t like her that’s their problem.

‘I don’t really listen to criticism because if you don’t want to watch my video you can always turn it off.

‘Or if you don’t want to listen to my music you don’t have to… So I’ve never been one to really care about what people think, because I’m the artist and that’s the art that I’m doing.’
