The overs: Louis Walsh chose Storm Lee, John Adeleye and Mary Byrne as his final three


Over in Ireland, Louis Walsh was picking his final three acts from among the over 28s.

He told Tesco check-out worker Mary Byrne: 'You draw me in and I'm like, where is this voice coming from. '

But he had some concerns, after the 50-year-old forgot the words as she performed for him. 'I would worry on the live shows "are you going to crumble?"'
But he gave her a chance, putting her through.

It's a good news: Mary promised not to let her mentor down


Mary broke down at the good news, sobbing and hugging her mentor. 'I will work so hard, I promise you I will. I promise you I will not let you down.'

There were tears of a different kind as Louis Walsh gave the bad news to a sobbing Yuli Miguel, 32.

He told the Dutch singer: 'You were great, we loved you, you've been an amazing contestant.' But there wasn't a place for her. After drying her tears, he told the camera: 'I didn't think she'd be that bad!'

Bad news was also given to Londoner Elesha Moses, 29, who Louis told: 'You're very entertaining, you've got a good voice. But the thing that worries me is why hasn't something happened for you, before this.'

And to Justin Vanderhyde, 30, from Holland, who he told: 'It's not good news. You're going home.'

Brazilian act Wagner Carrilho, 54, also got the bad news, despite being told: 'The thing about you wagner is you're very unique and you're very passionate when you sing.'

But despite warning John Adeleye, 30, that he needed 'more time', Louis gave him a yes.

'I think you'd need a lot of work to go on the live shows,' he said. 'But it's good news! You're going through to the live shows!'

And one contestant was simply over the moon to go through.

Storm Lee, 37, lives in LA but is Scottish, couldn't believe the good news. 'What? Oh Louis, thank you so much,' he gasped. 'It's just so weird to finally get a yes.'
Meanwhile, after his early annoyance at being given the groups, Simon Cowell made the best of things.

And having put together two of the groups from rejected performers, it was obvious who was going through.
