Ethan Hawke is the doting dad as he takes daughter Clementine to the park

By DAILY MAIL REPORTER

Daddy's girl: Ethan Hawke gives his two-year-old daughter Clementine a piggy back ride to a New York City park

He's one of Hollywood's busiest and acclaimed actors, but Ethan Hawke can still squeeze in some quality time with his daughter.

With his second wife Ryan busy at work, the 39-year-old actor looked happy to to take on the role of house husband as he spent the day with two-year-old Clementine.

The doting father, who also has two children with ex-wife Uma Thurman, was put through his paces as he ran after the toddler in a New York City park yesterday.

After running around after Clementine with a ball, Ethan stopped by a water fountain to catch his breath, where he was soon joined by another young child hoping for a sip.

Hawke married his former nanny Ryan in June 2008, when she was heavily pregnant with Clementine.

The couple met when Ryan worked for Hawke and his first wife Thurman, taking care of their two children Maya Ray, 12, and Levon Roan, eight.

Big birthday looming: Hawke is preparing to turn 40 next month and insists he's looking forward to it

The actor got a little testy last month when he was asked about his second marriage whilst at an event.

Hawke was at the LAByrinth Theater Company's Poker LAB benefit at Soho House on Sunday night when he was asked if his marriage to Ryan was 'going well.'

The actor got angry and proceeded to give the inquirer a verbal dressing down in front of other guests at the event.

Although he later apologised for his actions the situation is obviously a sensitive one for the usually private star.

New acquaintance: The actor is approached by another young park visitor as he stops for a refreshment at the water fountain

Meanwhile, the actor is preparing for a landmark birthday next month when he turns 40.
While many Hollywood stars dread the milestone - or even lie about their age - Hawke hopes turning 40 means even more gritty film roles coming his way.

He said earlier this year: 'I'm turning 40 this year and the people that I know who are 60 and are still really excited and passionate about filmmaking are all really good. There's a whole other room to get to

'A lot of people burn out. But, if you can sustain it and kind of get into the next room, it's fascinating. Some people burn out, and some people like Clint Eastwood, he was a wild, international movie star in his 30s, and he's doing the best work of his life now. Go figure.'

Ethan's next role sees him starring in the new 3D television adaptation of Moby Dick, set to air on TV early next year.

Catch: Clementine laughs with delight as she chases after an American football
