Smouldering: Cheryl Cole looks stunning on the cover of her new album Messy Little Raindrops

Her role as an X Factor judge may have seen her hitting the headlines in recent weeks, but Cheryl Cole is clearly keen to remind us of her musical talent as well.

The 27-year-old singer smoulders on the cover of her new album Messy Little Raindrops, wearing an orange and pink dress with fierce Christian Louboutin spiked leopard-print boots.

With her hair teased into a curly bob and with heavy eye make-up, Cheryl couldn't look more like a pop princess if she tried.

The cover has been revealed ahead of the album's release on November 1st.

Talking about the record, the follow-up to her debut solo album 3 Words, earlier this year, Cheryl said: 'I want it to be amazing, you know?

'I want people to be like, "Wow, I really, really enjoy this album", so I'm not going to put anything out until I feel like that.'

Promise This, the first single from the album, is already proving a success and Cheryl is hoping to increase popularity of the track when she performs it live on The X Factor on 24th October.

She last year received a standing ovation when she performed her debut single Fight For This Love on the show, although she admitted she had been 'terrified' before taking to the stage.

Promise This marks a slightly new sound for Cheryl, but the singer is clearly hoping to emulate the previous success of 3 Words.

It was revealed recently that Cheryl would be following up Promise This with a ballad.

The official X Factor magazine X wrote: 'The single after Promise This will be an enormo-ballard called The Flood, a massive, strong laden, Christmassy tear-jerker about wreckage, drowning and natural disaster love.

'Be prepared to shed a tear or three, as Cheryl sadly croons, "You can't hold onto water".'

Meanwhile, Black Eyed Peas star Will.i.am, who collaborated with Cheryl on several of the songs on 3 Words, has said he thinks Cheryl would prove a huge hit in America when she joins the judging panel of the American X Factor.

He said: 'I’ve heard she’s going to be a judge on The X Factor in the States. Wow, she’ll do great. The public will love her.

'I hung out with Cheryl recently. I was in the judges’ house. She’s cool. She’s a great artist and we’re good friends.

'I think the US are gonna latch on to her in a big way. She’s awesome.'
Messy Little Raindrops is out on November 1st.
