Frumpy Jessica Simpson has a dress disaster at New York Fashion Week

She's done everything from slip into a tiny pair of Daisy Dukes, to pull on a pair of high-waisted 'mom jeans'.

But despite having her own fashion line, Jessica Simpson has had more style misses than hits.

Once again she was getting noticed for all the wrong reasons at the Project Runway season 8 fashion show in New York.

The actress and singer wore a loose-fitting sparkly charcoal Michael Kors minidress, but her famous curves were swamped, giving her a frumpy appearance.

Simpson, 30, was filming with judges Nina Garcia and Michael Kors and presenter Heidi Klum, who also failed to find her fashion form in a bold red suit.

It's not the first time Simpson has got it wrong when it comes to dressing for her shape.

Instead of accentuating her hourglass figure, she often picks loose fitting clothes, which make her appear bigger than she really is.

Simpson debuted her Show Me Your Blues Jeanswear collection on Tuesday.

Her boyfriend Eric Johnson and sister Ashlee Simpson-Wentz came to lend their support.

Simpson will unveil her latest collection during New York Fashion week and has revealed she will use real women on the catwalk rather than models.
