'I dyed my hair the whole time': Matt LeBlanc admits he was going prematurely grey during Friends

Silver fox: Matt LeBlanc looks very distinguished as he leaves Scott's Restaurant in Mayfair, London

His dark-haired swarthiness and playboy charm made him a sex symbol on hit show Friends.

But Matt LeBlanc has confessed he was dying his hair throughout the time he was starring on the show.

According to Matt, he was going prematurely grey, something that would not have fitted with his Joey Tribbiani character.

So the 42-year-old actor, who was 27 when Friends began, started dying his locks to maintain his boyish look.

'I dyed my hair the whole time I was on Friends,' Matt admitted after a TCA panel back in July about his new Showtime series Episodes.

He will be displaying his salt-and-pepper look in new TV show Episodes, where the actor plays a parody of himself.

In the episode, Matt is humiliated when asked to audition to play 'Matt LeBlanc' in a new programme.

He vents his anger to his agent, saying: 'Wait... I'd be playing myself? And I have to read? The name of the character is Matt LeBlanc and I have to audition?'

When his agent assures him he'll get the part, Matt replies: 'Well how can I not get it?'

Episodes will air on U.S. channel Showtime this Autumn.
